H-wing Fighter by kavinveldar H-wing Fighter by kavinveldar
Designed by my brother during our Star Wars RPG.

The Results of the Y-wing Upgrade project, the H-wing heavy artillery support fighter was designed by General Salm and Colonel Blaine of Gold Squadron. After the Yuuzhan Vong War began, General Salm and Colonel Blaine stole the schematics and hid on the junk world of Fenris...

Not long after, mysterious dark hulled ships with super powerful weaponry began to destroy Yuuzhan Vong coral skipper patrols and capital ships. Fast, heavily shielded, and deadly... Shadow Squadron had appeared on the scene.

Original parts by Captain Shade! (thanks Cap!)

What's the armament nomenclature: I can see the lasers and ion cannons from the original Y-Wing chassis but what are the additions?

The primary weaponry are twin turbolasers, four heavy repeater cannons, four duel controlled laser batteries, and twin ion cannons. On the cockpit, there is the rotating anti-starfighter battery.

Pardon me for being a nitpicky geek, but the biggest drawback to the Y-Wing was that it was underpowered for what it carried (it typically required fighter escort to fulfill its mission as a bomber). Wouldn't this need a substantially bigger generator or series of them for that kind of firepower?

Remember, this is during the Yuuzhan Vong war. Power generators have been advanced, as well as the fact that the H-wing uses newer state of the art technologies. Giving it the power it needs to obliterate the enemy.

I can see where that can happens...one of the things they utilize in the development of the SW is one of those Silver Age tropes regarding expansion versus technical advancement; one is sacrificed at the expense of the other. Thousands of years have been necessary to colonize most of the galaxy once hyperspace travel made FTL a possibility, but alot of the other technical and cultural stuff has remained conservative, hence the disparity in the Core Worlds versus the more primitive Outer Rim. After the defeat of the revived Sith Empire, there would be some breathing space as well as the advancement that war and conflict bring as a side effect to improve things like spacecraft design. If the Alliance had such capabilities during the time of Palpatine, they might have had a better chance to fight the war more effectively and quickly. Fighters like that would have been able to deal with the Death Star more effectively.

I notice the hypodermic needle motif!

I have no patience to do my own detailed schematics. Hm, if its after the war, doesn't that mean they're attacking civilians?
