Spotlight Series: The Engineer's Plasma

The Engineer was one of the greatest, and some say the First true Time lord. He was a brilliant inventor, and had created the first Tardis, and many of the Timelords great inventions.. unfortunately, he was terrible with business and people, feeling more comfortable with his machines, and his 'friend' Rassilon took credit for them all, becoming Lord President. When Gallifrey was pulled from the Timelock by the Master, The Engineer was the second to vote against the vast majority of his kind against their return to the normal universe.... and so was shamed by Rassilon... when the Master attacked Rassilon, the Engineer activated his escape device, shunting himself through time. Unfortunatly the escape scrambled his memories, and he crash landed on Earth, becoming the famous earth inventor Nicholai Tesla. His screwdriver uses magnetically controlled plasma waves instead of sonic, allowing his device to perform many functions a normal sonic screwdriver can not.... like turn screws...
